Julian trained as a junior distance runner in Queensland, Australia. He was an Australian national champion in his age group. Between fourteen and sixteen he took the 1500 metres from 4:18 to 4:00 — the result of proper coaching, patient aerobic development, and consistent work. The progression sits below in full.

He stopped competitive running for an extended stretch and returned to the sport later, recreationally. A 1:14 half marathon in 2015 was the last serious effort.

The squad is built on the methodology that produced those junior results, adapted for a wider range of athletes and ages. The lesson is that talent without the structure goes nowhere — and that real performance comes from patience, consistency and the unglamorous work between the sessions everyone sees.

The 1500 metres — two years

From 4:18 at fourteen
to 4:00 at sixteen.

4:18.00 Age 14 yrs 5 mo
4:05.00 Age 15 yrs 5 mo

Two years of disciplined work. A 4:00.14 1500m at sixteen, Australian national age-group champion. The methodology — the why behind each session, the patience with the easy work, the trust in the plan — is the same one the squad uses now.

LATER — A RECREATIONAL RETURN

After a long stretch away from competitive running, Julian returned to the sport recreationally as an older athlete. A 1:14 half marathon in 2015 was the last serious effort before stepping into coaching.

"As a junior, the work paid off. 4:00 over 1500m at sixteen. National champion at my age. None of which would have happened without proper coaching. This squad exists so the next generation of distance runners in Pampanga don't have to figure it out alone."
